The New Workflow
Agent management tools are apps that help you run multiple AI agents like a small team. You assign tasks, track what’s running, and review outputs without living in one long chat thread or a CLI. Tools like Conductor and Codex make it easier to work on many things at once and manage progress in a way that feels calmer and more user-friendly than a CLI.
You can keep multiple threads moving without sitting around waiting. When one agent is running, you are already assigning or reviewing another. Dead time between prompts disappears, leaving a lot more time for prompting.
What Speed Actually Buys You
Speed has clear upsides and real trade-offs. I think it is up to designers and builders to decide what actually benefits from speed and delegation, and what should stay slow and focused.
The real win is not doing more things at once; it is what that speed frees up time for.
More space to think clearly, go deeper on a problem, and spend design time where judgment and intent matter most, instead of juggling ten directions at once.
User Fatigue
Building too fast can also wear out your product’s users. We can only handle so much in our everyday digital lives. A great article, hidden danger of shipping fast, explains that how we release things to users matters just as much as the speed at which we can create them.
To me, the sentiment shifts from “have a bias toward action” to “be deliberate about what you work on and what you share.”
Fads vs Real Shifts
I’m guilty of being on the tool hype train. I’ve always been an early adopter who likes to try the latest new tools and see if they change how I work. Most of the time they don’t, or at least not in the ways I expected.
But over time, I built a skill where I can sniff out what’s a fad and what is actually changing how we work.
The ecosystem is self-reinforcing: builders use AI tools to create more AI tools, accelerating the pace of new releases. This feedback loop suggests we're still early in understanding what's possible and how we should be building and designing.
Trading Speed for Intention
Agent tools make building faster, but the real advantage is having enough time left over to build with taste.
